A DEVOTED Abergavenny dad is showcasing his custom-made motorbike in memory of his teenage daughter who died from a rare disease.
Nick Randall, 47, of Llanellen, spent more than £4,000 building the Sue Randall Memorial Chopper for his motorbike enthusiast daughter, after whom the bike is named.
Miss Randall died in November 2009 aged 17 from the rare but life-threatening Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) which was triggered after she contracted the Epstein Barr virus.
HLH causes an uncontrolled growth of activated white blood cells which stop the body’s immune system from working properly.
At the time of her death Mr Randall, who is also a keen motorcyclist, had started to build a custom-made motorcycle to suit his daughter’s taste. After her death he decided to continue to build it up to show standard.
He said: "The bike is built to all her specifications. She knew what she wanted to be seen on."
Now to celebrate her life, Mr Randall is showcasing the bike around south Wales while raising money for the Histiocytosis Research Trust.
He said: "It was very shocking when we lost Sue. The money raised will help with the research into HLH."
After unveiling the bike at the 'No Bull; just Beer and Bikes' rally at Builth Wells on Sunday, Mr Randall will now be showcasing at The Grinning Idiots Bike Show at Risca Rugby Club on June 12th and at the West Wales Motorcycle Show at the Carmarthen Show Ground on August 20th.
