THE headteacher of Thornwell school was at the scene of the fire this morning, as firefighters began investigating the cause of the blaze that has gutted the infant and nursery building.

Headteacher Linda Davies said: “It’s just heartbreaking.

"All the children’s hard work, everything they’ve done over the last year has just completely gone up in smoke.”
