A bulldozer moved onto the site of thornwell school this afternoon to knock down the burnt out shell on the infants and nursery building.
Monmouthshire council contractors were at the scene late this afternoon to make the scene safe following the blaze that destroyed part of the school during the early hours of this morning.
It is not yet known if the fire was the result of an arson attack and fire investigators are expected to move onto the site on Monday.
