A TORFAEN chef has raised over £1,000 for charity by holding a pop-up tearoom in her village hall.
Julie Nelson, of Rasberry Catering, raised the cash for St Anne’s Hospice by serving afternoon tea to more than 230 people at Henllys Village Hall, Cwmbran.
Mrs Nelson, 48, of Ashleigh Court, Henllys, transformed the venue into an old fashioned tearoom and served tea and cakes using vintage china.
The mum-of-two said the afternoon was a great success with 80 tickets sold prior to the event and around 150 sold on the day.
“We baked 200 scones, 150 cupcakes among others and had support from several local businesses,” said Mrs Nelson who was helped by five friends.
Following its success Mrs Nelson said she will hold more pop-up tearoom event in the future.
