DIFFERENT nationalities will be brought together at a colourful church service in Newport this weekend.
Parishioners of All Saints Parish in Newport are celebrating a special mission week in the lead up to Pentecost which ends with an international mass at St Mary’s Church, Stow Hill.
The congregation will be encouraged to wear their national costume and bring flags and cultural items from their home countries.
The parish, which encompasses six churches, including St Mary’s, will welcome visiting preacher Father Colm Kilcoyne, from Ireland, who will speak at mass at one of the six churches each evening this week.
The week will then culminate with the international service on Saturday at 4.30pm.
Parish Priest Father John Kelly said: “There is a great mix of people in our parish which includes people from the Philippines, Poland, Italy, India, and of course Wales. Everyone will be able to pray in their own languages in celebration of Pentecost.”
