Footloose – The Dance Musical is the story of a city boy who loves dancing. Moving to the only town in America where dancing has been banned, we follow the story of Ren who uncovers a tragic story and helps the town heal its wounds.
As the 80s film, Footloose is famous for it its dance routines, the stage show more than matches this. From the very beginning Footloose - The Dance Musical is filled with high octane dance routines that give the audience such an excitable rush they feel they have been to a party. Adam C Booth who played the lead role of Ren McCormack gave an outstanding performance while Giovanni Spano portrayed Willard with expert comedy timing.
Former Brookside actor Steven Pinder played the role of Rev. Shaw More with compassion and Karen Ascoe, Carys Gray and Lorna Want provided a touching moment with the song Learning to be silent.
My favourite part of the show was Holding out for a Hero performed by Lorna Want, Keisha Amponsa Banson, Tanya Robb, Lindsey Tierney and the brilliant male dancers. The brilliant orchestra under the musical direction of Julian Reeve frequently added to the magical and energetic atmosphere the performers created on the stage.
Footloose – The Dance Musical will continue to dance on at the Wales Millennium Centre until Saturday 11 June 2011, before moving to Bristol Hippodrome next week. Don’t miss this excellent show!
