THE father of one of the four Ebbw Vale teenage girls killed in a car crash in 2006 is suing the driver of the car.
Terry Jones’ 16-year-old daughter, Louise, died when the car she was travelling in crashed on the Llangynidr moors on the mountain road between Garnlydan and Ebbw Vale on November 2, 2006.
She was a passenger in the car along with her friends, Katie Roberts and Danielle Caswell, both 15, and 16- year-old Kayleigh Parry.
Mr Jones, 61, is claiming damages of an unspecified amount for personal injury and loss as the secondary victim of a road traffic accident against Craig Ramshaw, who was driving the car that night.
Mr Jones was at the Cardiff Civil Justice Centre yesterday for the start of the trial, which is expected to last another three days.
Mr Jones is claiming general damages for psychiatric injury suffered in the immediate aftermath of the accident.
The court heard Mr Jones’ daughter was one of the back-seat passengers in the Vauxhall Corsa driven by Mr Ramshaw. The four friends had been at the home of Mr Jones and his wife, Georgina, that evening and had left to go out for a walk at about 8.45pm.
Judge Anthony Seys Llewellyn, QC, was shown photographs of the crash scene yesterday, including the car’s skid marks.
A DVD which Mr Jones made of the journey fromhis Ebbw Vale home to the scene of the crash was also shown.
Mr Jones provided the commentary on the DVD, pointing out where the police cordon lay and where he and the other parents had been told to wait on the night of the crash. It also showed the memorials to the girls in the places where their bodies had been found.
