MEMBERS of a Caldicot and a Chepstow fitness club collected more than 50 shoe-boxes of goods to send out to local soldiers in Afghanistan.
More than 50 women from the Curves fitness centres in Caldicot and Chepstow donated items including sweets, magazines, torches and socks to send out to the 1st Rifles from Beachley army barracks, who have recently been deployed to Afghanistan.
The items brought in by members filled up more than 50 shoe-boxes, which will be sent out this month.
Manager Simon Griffiths said: “I am really pleased with the contribution made. We were only expecting to get around 30 boxes.”
