AN EBBW Vale father fought back tears yesterday as he relived the “catastrophic” moment he found out his daughter had been killed in a horrific car accident.

Terry Jones, 61, of Queensway, Garnlydan, said he and wife Georgina “just want to die”, describing every day as “a terror”, since daughter Louise, 16, died on November 2, 2006.

Mr Jones was giving evidence at Cardiff Civil Justice Court, where he is suing Craig Ramshaw, the driver of a vehicle in which Louise died along with Katie Roberts and Danielle Caswell, both 15, and 16-year-old Kayleigh Parry.

Mr Ramshaw’s vehicle crashed on the Llangynidr moors between Ebbw Vale and Garnlydan and Mr Jones is suing the driver for personal injury and loss as a secondary victim in the incident.

Mr Jones said: “Louise was the baby of our family and our lives revolved around her. We can’t get to grips with it, we can’t sleep, there’s a feeling of despair and sorrow.

“We can’t get over the loss of our Louise – it has killed us.”

He described the evening when Louise left their house with Mr Ramshaw and the three other girls at around 8.45pm, kissing him.

At 10pm, Katie’s dad, Steve, knocked his door after hearing there had been an accident and parents of all four girls walked up to the mountain road.

Mr Jones said there were around 40 onlookers, adding: “An officer came down, looked around and said he didn’t like to do it, but there were four girls involved and they are all dead.

“The parents went hysterical, it was catastrophic.”

The families went to Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil, at 6am to identify the bodies.

Mrs Jones identified Louise, with her husband saying: “The screams, I’ll never forget it.”

Mr Jones said the couple have kept Louise’s roomas it was, saying: “There’s been no justice of any description for her.”

Mr Jones’ psychiatrist Doctor David Thomas said he suffers from post traumatic stress disorder that has become chronic.

For Mr Ramshaw, Nigel Lewis, argued it was not the accident which caused Mr Jones’ condition, as he did not witness it, but his sense of loss and grief.

Judge Anthony Seys Llewellyn visited the crash location yesterday evening.
