A NEWPORT man is organising a motorbike mountain convoy to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Mark Fredrickson, 34, of Ringland, is calling on bikers to join in the event on August 7, which will see riders make their way from Newport to Llandovery and back again covering 150 miles.
Around 50 people have so far shown interest in the event, which Mr Fredrickson is now hoping to do annually.
Bikers, who are asked to donate £10 to take part, will start at Newport Stadium where they will leave between 9.45am and 10am to make their way up to Abergavenny for a refreshment break.
The ride will then continue to Llandovery via Brecon where bikers will stop for lunch before making the return journey to Newport for around 4pm.
Mr Fredrickson, an amateur boxer who is also taking part in this month’s Newport Transporter Bridge abseil for Macmillan, said: “Me and my wife Vicki both lost our grandfathers to cancer so it is a cause which is close to the heart.”
