MUSICAL theatre students from Coleg Gwent are preparing to bring the curtain down on their academic year with a cabaret showcase.
Students from the Cross Keys campus will show off their singing, dancing and acting talents in performances next week which will include songs from a variety of shows such as My Fair Lady, the Rocky Horror Show, Cabaret, and Shrek.
Musical theatre lecturer Cheryl Harper said students had chosen their favourite musical numbers for the end-of-year performances, before they head off for further training when they finish college.
She said many students were already auditioning for drama schools such as Mountview Academy of Performing Arts, The Arden School of Theatre in Manchester and Performers College in Essex.
Final year student Hannah Brehony, 18, from Newport will be taking to the stage next week as Sally Bowles from Cabaret and Magenta from the Rocky Horror picture show.
She said: “It’s all coming together really well. The last few weeks have been spent getting our dance routines really polished. We’re really looking forward to the show itself, but don’t want it all to end!"
The cabaret performances will start at 7pm from June 14-16. Tickets cost £5.
