RESIDENTS in north Monmouthshire will have their rubbish collected once a fortnight from the end of the month.
Black bag collections will change from weekly to fortnightly in Abergavenny and surrounding villages including Govilon, Gilwern, Clydach, and Pandy.
The scheme was a success in Chepstow and is now being rolled out across the rest of the county as the authority works towards its recycling target of 52 per cent by March 2013.
The change will mean more than 90 per cent of the county will be on fortnightly refuse collections but recycling and food and garden waste will continue weekly.
Residents can find out more at roadshows on Tuesday, June 21, 9am- 4pm, in Red Square, High Street, Abergavenny; Monday, June 27, Derwen Deg, Govilon, 9am - noon and 1pm - 4pm in the Village Hall, Main Road, Gilwern; Tuesday, June 28, 1pm -4pm at Jolly Colliers, Llanelly Hill and in Mardy playing fields on Wednesday, June 29, 9am - noon.
