A CASUALTY had to be cut from her vehicle following a crash on the M4 in Newport yesterday evening.

There were tailbacks following the incident at around 5.30pm between junction 25, the Caerleon Road slip road, and junction 24 at the Coldra.

South Wales Fire & Rescue received a call at 5.30pm, with firefighters sent from the city’s Malpas and Maindee stations.

They used cutting equipment to get the woman out of the car.

She was taken to Newport’s Royal Gwent Hospital.

A further two casualties were treated at the roadside by paramedics and the road was cleared by 7.30pm.
