LITTLE Sugar and Spice are hoping to prove they are made of all things nice at next month’s Machen Pygmy Goat Show.
Husband and wife June and Alan Camfield, who have been breeding the animals for 13 years, are busy getting them preened and ready to go on show at the annual fair, which Mr Camfield, 75, has organised for the past decade.
And this year’s event at Mill Farm, Machen, on July 2, looks set to smash previous records, attracting 147 entries from all over the UK – the most since the foot and mouth outbreak in 2001.
The miniature goats are just two of 24 who have the run of Mr and Mrs Camfield’s garden at their Somerton home in Newport and the couple hope they will do enough to impress in some of the many categories, which range from Best in Show to Best Female Kid and Best Buckling.
Judging starts at 10am and visitors from as far away as Stoke-on-Trent, Devon and Cornwall are expected.
