NEWPORT schoolchildren took part in a world record attempt to create the largest ‘walking bus’.
More than 260 children from St Andrew’s Infants School gathered together to walk 500m as part of the record attempt being run by Brake, the road safety charity.
The attempt is part of the charity’s ‘Kids say slow down’ campaign. Last year saw more than 130,000 schoolchildren from more than 550 schools take part.
Children from the school’s nursery and reception class will complete their walking bus in the school playground while year one and year two pupils will walk down Corporation Road.
Teacher Katie Thomas said: “It is all part of raising awareness of road safety.”
