THE search is on for this year’s Monmouth Carnival’s King and Queen.
Organisers are searching for youngsters between seven and 14 to take part in next month’s carnival procession.
The carnival committee is also hoping to find attendants to escort the royal couple during the town parade.
The carnival takes place on Sunday, July 31, during Monmouth Festival Week, and includes floats, home-made chariots, walkers, skateboarders, cyclists and classic vehicles.
Town councillor and committee member, Anthea Dewhurst, said hotels rooms have been booked for the event since last August.
“The royal party will be the iconic traditional centrepiece of the procession. Entries must be received by July 15,” said Cllr Dewhurst.
To enter, parents need to send contact details and a photo along with one sentence describing why you would like the honour of taking part in the royal procession.
Vehicles and a crown will be provided for the chosen King, Queen and attendants.
To enter, call 01600 715662 or write to the town clerk at Shire Hall, Agincourt Square, Monmouth, or e-mail townclerk@ monmouth.gov.uk
