STUDENTS at a Gwent college are gearing up to showcase their talents at a show due to take place next week.
Coleg Gwent Art & Design students are to take part in their end of year show at Crosskeys Campus on June 21 to 24.
The show will focus on a wide range of art and design, including fashion, photography, paintings, drawings, sculptures and even game designs and animations getting a look in.
Among these taking part are Liam Johnson, a budding 18-year-old fashion designer from Blaina.
Mr Johnson, who will be enrolling at the prestigious Central St Martins College of Art& Design in London, will be showing work inspired by the mining industry.
He said: “It features a belt which was worn by my grandfather, who was a miner, and it was him who inspired me to take up photography, so it will be great for my family and friends to see my work.”
Hannah Parfitt, also 18 and from Hollybush, near Blackwood, will be starting a degree in marine and wildlife photography in Falmouth in September. She said: “I’m really excited to be showing my work next week.
“Although the last two years have flown by, I’ve certainly matured as a photographer. This is the first time I’ve exhibited my work on such a scale so I’m a little nervous, but its great preparation for university shows.”
