THOUSANDS of people have taken to the web to support the family of missing Caldicot man Joel Andrews.
Last week, the Argus reported the anguish of Mr Andrews’ mother, Tracey Reid and grandmother, Sidonia Cartwright, a month after he went missing while at a rave on Dartmoor, Devon.
Around 10,430 people have now joined a group called ‘Joel Andrews Missing’ on social networking site, Facebook, and a video on Youtube has been watched more than 4,500 times.
The video starts with a message from Mrs Reid, which says ‘Please come home. I miss you so much, love Mumxx’, and a series of pictures of Mr Andrews follow.
Mr Andrews was last seen at around 12pm on Sunday, May 22, close to Fernworthy Reservoir, near Chagford.
Detectives searching for the 24-year-old initially appealed for a group of people seen wading in the reservoir to come forward and also anyone who had seen Mr Andrews riding a mini motorbike, but both lines of enquiry have now been ruled out.
This week Mrs Reid and Mrs Cartwright are due to appear on ITV’s This Morning in a bid to spread the word.
They also travelled to Devon at the weekend to place banners appealing for information close to where Mr Andrews was last seen and plan to take a banner to this week’s Glastonbury Festival.
Members of the Facebook group are calling on national news outlets to publicise Mr Andrews disappearance.
Mr Andrews was last seen wearing a grey ‘Animal’ hooded top, blue jeans, a dark green waist-length jacket and a camouflage cap.
Anyone with information or who has seen Mr Andrews should contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 08452 777444 quoting reference 421 280511 or Gwent Police on 101.
