NEWPORT-born musician Jon Langford will be back in his home city next month to revisit an album he wrote about the area in 1998.
He will officially launch a book of artwork, stories and recollections about the city along with a newly-recorded version of his album Skull Orchard.
The work is entitled Skull Orchard Revisited and features Mr Langford, former drummer with punk band The Mekons, singing and playing each song from the album with Toronto-based Burlington Welsh Choir.
Mr Langford now lives in Chicago but will give a book reading at the Barnabas Arts House, Pill, at 6pm on July 16, followed by a concert at 8.30pm.
The book features Mr Langford reminiscing about the city of yesteryear and how it is virtually unrecognisable compared to the place that he grew up in.
While he laments the demise of places like TJ’s and the once-mighty docks area at Pill, he says he can’t help but keep returning.
