A WEEKEND of fun and festivities is set to mark the 11th anniversary of Blaenavon’s World Heritage status.
World Heritage Day is Saturday, June 25, and the celebration will be opened officially at 11.30am at Market Square by town crier Derrick Price, with music from Blaenavon Town Band, Blaenavon Male Voice Choir and Hillside School Brass Band.
Celebrations will include street entertainment, a Victorian funfair, live music, craft stalls, dancers, cookery demonstrations, and a heritage treasure hunt competition.
The annual heritage costume parade’s theme this year is Blaenavon’s Education Past and Present.
The parade will start at 1.30pm from the top of Broad Street and there will be cash prizes for best child, best adult and best group.
