A FAMILY fun day which takes place at the weekend marks the end of a six-week festival celebrating the communities and history of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.
The event on Sunday will be the last in the Route and Roots Festival, which has been spearheaded by Forgotten Landscapes and funded by The Heritage Lottery Fund.
The Routes and Roots family fun day aims to promote the role of the canal, and the tram and railways which supplied it, in the region’s history and the part it plays in the leisure activities offered at Goytre Wharf, near Abergavenny.
There will be live music, arts and crafts at the event.
Other activities include face painting, a bouncy castle, fishing and a treasure trail through the woods.
Over the last six weeks outdoor activities, guided walks and local history and wildlife events have taken place along the canal.
The event runs between from 1-5pm. Entry is free, parking is £1.
