GWENT youngsters are wanted to join a young firefighter scheme.
The South Wales Fire and Rescue Service project is a uniformed cadet scheme for males and females aged between 14 and 18.
Youngsters are now wanted to join the schemes in Abergavenny and Tredegar.
Working alongside other cadets and firefighters, the young people will take part in activities including basic firefighting, community safety initiatives, practical scenarios using hydrants, hoses and ladders, and first aid training.
Through this they will learn valuable life skills including communication, team working, self confidence and self discipline.
The scheme is a two-year programme for the young firefighters to work towards a BTEC in Fire and Rescue Services in the Community Level 2 Award. For more information visit www.southwales-fire.gov.uk, contact Sian Vowles on 01443 232000 or e-mail svowles@ southwales-fire.gov.uk
