SANTA Claus and a bunch of young pirates were among the entertainment at Saturday’s Chepstow Carnival.
Hundreds of people lined the streets to watch the parade, which included a Polar Express float complete with Father Christmas, make its way from Severn Bridge Social Club through the town centre.
Also taking part were youngsters from Kestrel gym club, Chepstow Town junior football club and Thornwell Primary school and nursery.
Youngsters from the school and nursery were collecting funds to help replace equipment and resources lost in the fire at the school’s infant building earlier this month.
Leader of Friends of Thornwell School and Nursery, Lis Nicholas said: “The children loved the parade and the community response has been fantastic.”
The festival organised by Chepstow Round Table, continued at the Riverside with stalls and games and performances from Caldicot Musical Theatre Society.
Carnival organiser and treasurer of Chepstow Round Table, Stuart Dent said: "Considering the weather, I am very pleased with the turnout and it is great to see the two sides of Chepstow join together for some enjoyment and musical fun."
