CHILDREN from schools across Gwent joined together and danced in traditional costume in Gwent Square, Cwmbran, as part of the Gwyl Plant Gwent Children’s Festival of Dance on Saturday.
Organisation Gwerinwyr Gwent started the festival of Welsh folk dance for children in 1981, with eight schools taking part. Now more than 100 schools take part each year.
The event is now held in two sessions because of the increasing number of children taking part, and hundreds of shoppers and passers-by stopped to enjoy the spectacle.
