MORE than 2,000 people soaked up the sunshine in Abertillery at the weekend as the town welcomed its best ever turnout for the annual Classic Vehicle Show.
A total of 76 car enthusiasts brought their motors along for the event on Saturday, which was centred in the car park by the Foundry Bridge.
The public were able to see how the vehicles had been restored and preserved by their owners, some locals and others from places such as Shropshire and Bristol.
A number of live bands provided entertainment in Church Street, while younger members of the crowd enjoyed craft workshops and games.
Local radio station BR FM were in attendance on the day, which began at 10am and brought many new exhibitors, according to organiser Karin Lamb.
The Blaenau Gwent council town centre manager said this was encouraging, with many others pledging to support the event next year.
"Some of the exhibitors were saying it was one of the best shows they have attended, which was brilliant. Last year we had 2,000 people come along, but it was easily more this year, and I think the weather helped," she said.
The day was a council project with support from Abertillery and Cwmtillery Communities First Partnerships, the Welsh Government and Families First Funding.
