VISITORS to Caerleon’s Roman Legion Museum took a step back in time at the weekend to learn about the history of the era’s gladiators.
Museum staff were on hand to tell tales of how gladiator fights started, what customs surrounded them and parents and children even got the chance to attend gladiator school to find out if they have what it takes to become one of the brave fighters.
There was also a chance to visit a recreated Roman market, watch craftsmen at work and taste traditional Roman food at the Jolly Boar tavern.
