A MAN was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a cycling accident near Newport on Sunday.
The man, 54, from Wenvoe, Vale of Glamorgan, suffered serious head injuries when he was involved in a collision with another cyclist at about 3pm on the A48 near the old Wyevale Garden Centre site in Castleton.
He was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, where his condition last night was serious but stable.
The other cyclist, a man aged 53, was not injured.
Gwent Police want to speak to a motorist driving a red car who stopped to help at the scene of the accident.
Officers also want to speak to another cyclist who was cycling on the opposite side of the A48 and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
