NEWPORT youngster Corris Davies landed a right hook flush on former world champion boxer Joe Calzaghe’s jaw during his visit to the Children’s Hospital for Wales.
Corris, 13, of Balmoral Road, who suffers with a Ewing’s Sarcoma tumour in his right leg, was one of the youngsters Mr Calzaghe and his girlfriend Kristina Rihanoff spent time with during their visit to the hospital in Cardiff. Miss Rihanoff gave the kids tips on dancing while Mr Calzaghe showed them some of the quick moves which won him the Super Middleweight and Light Heavyweight title belts.
Newbridge’s Mr Calzaghe, an ambassador for Welsh children’s cancer charity LATCH, also signed autographs and painted boxing gloves with the youngsters.
Corris got a signed glove and card from Mr Calzaghe and the St Julian’s School pupil’s dad, Paul Davies, 47, said: “He was over the moon, seeing Joe really brightened his day up.”
