WHILE it is wrong to condemn suspects until they are proved guilty we are appalled at the allegations of phone hacking against the News of the World.

In no way does the kind of journalism allegedly practised by certain individuals on that newspaper bear any resemblance to the work of journalists on the South Wales Argus and other local media.

We are all in the business of disclosure in the public interest, but the methods used by the red-top phone hackers are obscene and we distance ourselves from them in utter disgust.
