THE number of the people who can claim a Welsh Blue Badge is to be extended, the Assembly announced yesterday.
From August 1, parents of children under three years old with specific medical conditions, people with disabilities in both arms and severely injured armed forces personnel and veterans will be entitled to claim badges.
The changes to the regulations come following a public consultation between July and September 2010.
The scheme was introduced in 1971 to provide parking concessions for registered blind or severely disabed people There are 230,000 Blue Badge holders in Wales.
