THE 2011 Abertillery Blues Festival kicks off today, with the two-day event set to see performances from the likes of rhythm and blues pianist Mike Sanchez and blues rock band The Hamsters.
The festival, which is now in its seventh year, is expected to attract thousands of music lovers to Abertillery.
Fans will get a chance to see names including critically acclaimed UK band Giles Robson and the Dirty Aces, who are returning to the festival for a second year, as well as American guitarist Eugene Hideaway Bridges, and Colchester five-piece Hokie Joint.
There will also be musicians from the local area, including the Luke Doherty Band, led by Newport teenage guitarist Luke Doherty.
