A PONTYPOOL mum-of-four donned her pyjamas for the day to raise almost £200 for the hospitals that saved her son’s life.
Joanne Young, 28, of Bythway Road, Trevethin, sold toffee apples and organised a sponsored sponge-throwing, leg waxing and raffle to raise £175 for the neo-natal unit at Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny and Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport.
Miss Young’s son Iolo Aiden Young, now eight months, was born three months early and spent 12 weeks in intensive care suffering from a rare form of bacteria in his blood.
Miss Young and ten other mums who attend the after-school club at the Old Church Hall in Trevethin, wore pyjamas for the school run to and from Penygarn Primary School and collected donations along the way.
“We had fantastic support from people who threw money on our collection buckets,” she added.
