LITTLE swimmers in Newport had a splashing time last week raising money for baby charity Tommy’s.
Youngsters taking part in their swimming lessons with baby swim school, Water Babies, last week took part in a national fundraising event aiming to raise £100,000 for the charity.
Tots were set a challenge by their teacher that they’ve never completed before, such as doing glide swim under water or swimming through a hoop, while older toddlers raised money by doing more advanced challenges like swimming under water independently.
Jacqui Grant, who runs the local team of Water Babies with Aletia Griffiths, said: “For many parents, the sight of their baby doing their first solo dip underwater, or swimming through a hoop for the first time is a very proud moment. Doing it as their first ever fundraising activity makes it particularly special.”
Sessions were held at Maes Ebbw School and Llanhennock Cheshire Care Home in Caerleon throughout last week.
The money is still being counted, but all proceeds will go to Tommy’s.
