CHILDREN and adults joined in the festivities at Pontypool Library on Saturday to celebrate its re-opening after a £300,000 makeover.
Visitors to a celebratory fun day enjoyed story telling and live music, and some even had their portrait drawn by caricaturist Picasso Griffiths.
The new-look library boasts an open-plan layout on the ground floor, while the basement, which had previously only been accessible to staff, is now home to a computer suite and community meeting room.
The library is now also fully accessible to wheelchair users, following the installation of a new entrance to the ground level and a disabled lift allowing access to the basement.
The improvements were made following consultation with users who told Torfaen council what facilities were most important to them.
