THE trial of three men accused of murdering a Newport father was stopped yesterday and the jury discharged.
Karl Drummond, 36, of Attlee Court, George Glover, 39, of Graham Court, and Shahid Rafiq, 36, of Bryn-yr-Ysgol, all of Caerphilly, are charged with murdering and conspiring to rob Tony Singh, 24, on November 11 last year.
All three defendants deny the charge and have been standing trial at Newport Crown Court since July 18.
But yesterday Judge John Curran discharged the jury and set a new trial date for January 11 next year.
A new jury will be sworn in to try the three defendants at the start of the new trial.
Mr Singh, who was also known as Saghir Abbaf Ahmed, was found dead at his home in Bryngwyn Road, Newport, on November 15, 2010.
He had a four-year-old daughter Shanyra with his long term partner Esther Seivwright.
