THE debate over whether Caerphilly council should transfer its housing stock to a social landlord hots up next month, with a roadshow set to visit over 50 locations in the local authority area.
With the council set to ballot residents in its 10,980 properties on proposals this Autumn, the roadshow will include a trailer demonstrating the type of kitchens and bathrooms that would be available if people vote yes.
A proposed new social landlord called Castell Mynydd has vowed to invest £173 million in the properties over the next five years, bringing them up to the Welsh Housing Quality Standard- the minimum required by the Welsh Government.
The roadshow starts at the Big Cheese festival in Caerphilly town this weekend, where people from all over the local authority area will be able to find out what the transfer proposals will mean to them.
Council staff and independent tenant advisers will be there to tell residents about the fixtures and fittings and benefits that would be available to them.
The roadshow will visit 50 locations, including the Bedwellty Show on August 20, with details being sent to tenants in a special newsletter.
