THE jury in the trial of a couple from Pontypool alleged to have defrauded a pensioner has retired to consider its verdicts.
Carer Jacqueline Courtney, 49, and husband Stephen Courtney, 52, of The Woodlands, Penygarn, deny charges of dishonestly using their position to defraud Marion Edna Holland, 89, by transferring £54,568.01 to themselves, and a charge of abusing their position by persuading Mrs Holland to change her will in favour of them.
The couple are on trial at Newport Crown Court.
