DO you know someone in Newport who goes above and beyond to help others?

Do you have a neighbour who works tirelessly to help out at a local youth club, or an inspirational parent?

If so, then the King's Church wants to hear from you.

The chutch has teamed up with the Argus for a second year to find those characters in the city that deserve to be recognised, to bring you Newport's Night of Honour awards.

The ceremony will honour those in our community that deserve our praise, but its down to you to help us find them.

Categories include: Neighbour of the Year; Young Person of the Year; Above and Beyond Award - for someone who has gone that extra mile; Parent of the Year; Public Service Superhero; Community Organisation of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.

Hayley Corley of the King's Church said: "Last year was the first time that we held Newport's Night of Honour and it was a resounding success.

"With well over 200 nominations from all over the community, Newport really embraced the need to honour the local heros in our city.

"The award winners were treated to standing ovations, as their good deeds were shared with the public for the very first time. They received awards, prizes and the applause of our city. A very worthwhile evening indeed.

"This year, we're asking everyone to get involved and nominate their hero."

This year the King's Church is inviting everyone to go along and watch the awards ceremony free of charge.

All you have to do to nominate someone is fill out the form in the argus and send it to: Night of Honour, King's Church, 71 Lower Dock Street, Newport, NP20 1EH or download it from www.kings-church.org.uknightofhonour Nominations have to be in by 12noon on Friday, August 26.

The winners will be presented with awards at a ceremony on Friday, September 23 at the King's Centre.

Special guest and entertainment for the evening will be provided by singer and comedian Mike Doyle and his band.
