CHILDREN at a Newport nursery got a right royal surprise when they received a letter from newlyweds the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Youngsters at Osborne Children's Nursery, based in Quantock Drive, had sent William and Kate a framed hand made card baring their pictures to congratulate them on their wedding.
Staff and children never expected to get a reply but were delighted to receive a thank you letter and photograph of the royal couple.
Signed by Mrs Claudia Holloway, of St James’s Palace, the letter says the royal highnesses had been overwhelmed by messages following their special day on April 29 and said they were “immensely touched” that the children had gone to the trouble of making the “splendid” and “delightful” card.
They extended their best wishes to the children, who celebrated the royal occasion with a party, and said they hoped they had enjoyed the celebrations.
Nursery owner Roseline Smith said children and parents were thrilled with the response, adding: “I thought they would not have time to reply but they did and it’s a nice personal touch. It’s good for people to know how involved they are.”
