A WOMAN has won a Planning appeal to turn land at a farm in a Newport village into a centre for injured and pregnant horses.
Planning officers at Newport council had turned down Carol Partridge's change of use application for land at Rose Farm, Penhow.
A report from the council said Mrs Partridge intends to use the appeal site to care for injured and pregnant horses.
Officers had said that a proposed temporary home for a full time worker would have had an adverse effect on the character and appearance of the surroundings by "adding to the clutter of buildings within Rose Farm."
But the planning inspector said the proposed log cabin would be in keeping with the setting and would not harm the character or appearance of the area.
He also said the proposal would not have an adverse impact on highway safety.
He allowed the appeal subject to conditions.
