MOCK the Week star Andy Parsons is topping the bill at this year’s Comedy Port, as it returns for its second year.

Andy Parsons, star of BBC topical panel show Mock the Week and Live at the Apollo, will headline the festivities on October 15, as part of this third satirical tour with trade mark tirades about the coalition, cuts and showbusiness.

Winners of Edinburgh Spotlight ‘Best Comedy Award 2010’ New Art Club will be performing their latest stand-up dance show, Big Bag of Boom, entertaining new and old fans alike with their “ sublimely elegant stupidity.”

Robin Ince and his new show, Happiness Through Science (Star Corpse Apple Child), is one of the latest acts to join the bill fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Throughout the week, a whole host of comedy will be taking place all over city at locations including The Riverfront Theatre, Kama Lounge and Le Pub, as well as pop-up fringe venues in URBAN, which was formerly the Empty Shops project.

Acts scheduled to perform during the week include Elis James, Nick Helm, Henry Widdicombe, Josh Widdicombe, Dan Mitchell, Helen Arney, Mr and Mrs Clarke, Dan Thomas, Clint Edwards, Gareth Brand and Tin Shed Theatre.

There will also be sketches, stand-up, children’s productions, musical comedy, late night shows and day time events.

Last year hundreds of people flocked to events including Shappi Khorsandi’s The Moon on a Stick and Jon Richardson’s Don’t Happy Be Worry.

Comedy Port runs from October 10 until October 16. For more information visit www.newport.gov.uk/theriverfront or call 01633 656679.
