A CHEPSTOW man was remanded in custody today after he appeared in court charged with firearms offences and making threats to kill.
Greg Searle, 34, of no fixed abode, was arrested on Wednesday after an eight-hour incident in Aust Crescent, Bulwark, which led to part of the area being cordoned off.
He appeared in Caerphilly Magistrates' Court today charged with two counts of making threats to kill, affray, malicious communications, use of a firearm to resist arrest and using a firearm to cause fear or violence.
Dressed in a grey T-shirt, Searle chose to represent himself.
Prosecutor Ruth Hale said that the matter can only be dealt with in the crown court due to the severity of the charges and asked the magistrates to remand Searle in custody.
The magistrates remanded Searle in custody until August 11 when he will appear before the crown court.
