To be honest, the last thing I wanted to do on a cold October evening was to go to a Katy Perry concert. But I am very glad I did.
With production values that wouldn’t seem out of place on a Broadway stage show. Katy Perry blew her sell-out audience away at the Motorpoint Arena with a full-on in–your-face production including lots of costume changes, many dance routines and video shorts adding numerous narratives to the ongoing proceedings.
The set was a visual feast decorated with cornucopia of confectionary delights including lollipops and cupcakes all of which were highlighted by the outstanding work of the lighting team who created many colourful atmospheres with their skills. The atmosphere was enhanced further as Katy interacted with her set creating some very memorable sequences for her fans including floating on a cloud over the audience while playing a guitar.
Some of my personal highlights included the song Peacock in which Katy dressed in a purple leotard complete with amazing peacock tail feathers and her acoustic performance of The One That Got Away.
Katy delighted her many fans by performing several of her popular hits including Hot n Cold, I Kissed a Girl, Last Friday Night and Firework. It was also clear that Katy had done some research about her Welsh venue cheekily playing up the England and Wales rivalry on stage.
Katy Perry certainly brought a lot of colour and warmth to a gloomy cold October evening and if you are ever in need of brightening up I would recommend catching Katy live.
