A MAN accused of murdering Newport father Tony Singh told a court he did not believe Mr Singh was badly injured after he hit him with a bar.
Karl Drummond, 37, of Attlee Court, Caerphilly, continued giving evidence at Cardiff Crown Court yesterday, where he is standing trial with George Glover, 40, of Graham Court, and Shahid Rafiq, 37, of Bryn-yr-Ysgol, both Caerphilly, charged with conspiring to rob and murder 24-year-old Mr Singh on November 11, 2010.
Mr Singh’s body was found at his Bryngwyn Road flat on November 15, 2010.
All three men deny the charges.
On Monday Drummond told the jury he had hit Mr Singh over the head with a metal bar after asking for drugs, and Mr Singh went to the floor on his knees and elbows.
But Drummond said Mr Singh ran off, and when asked by his defence barrister, John Charles Rees, yesterday if he thought Mr Singh was badly injured, Drummond replied “no”.
He also said he did not think Mr Singh would report what had happened to police.
Drummond said that when asked about the incident later that day by his girlfriend, Nina Sayer, he did not want to talk about it.
He said: “I was angry about what had happened, I did not think anything would come of it. I was upset. I did not want to dwell on it.”
Proceeding.
