THE KING and I, one of the best loved musicals of all time, comes to Cardiff’s New Theatre next week.
It stars This Life star Ramon Tikaram and Josefina Gabrielle, whose musical highlights include The Witches of Eastwick, Sweet Charity and the lead in Oklahoma! at the National Theatre.
This musical has been seen by millions of people across the world since it was first performed in 1951.
After it was showered with awards, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s work became a blockbuster Hollywood movie and its soundtrack is still a bestseller today.
The story of a British governess brought to the court of Siam to tutor the King’s many children is told using one a memorable score.
It includes melodies like The March of the Siamese Children, Shall We Dance, I Whistle A Happy Tune, Hello Young Lovers and the unforgettable Getting To Know You.
It is at the New Theatre between March 13 and 17.
