A LOG cabin, a rugby ground, a farm and a caravan are among the venues that will play host to voters in this year’s local elections.
Thousands of people will also turn out to have their say at schools, churches and community centres across Gwent tomorrow.
Punters at a number of pubs across the region, including the Hunter’s Moon Inn in Llangattock Lingoed, Abergavenny, and the Railway Inn in Abertillery, will be able to cast their votes between 7am and 10pm.
The garage at Newport’s Mansion House, which is more used to housing civic cars, will also be transformed, along with the Bowls Pavilion, at Two Locks, Cwmbran.
Keri McCarthy, who helps run the Log Cabin in Hilltop, Ebbw Vale, said the venue, which was built in the 1970s, was a great place to open the polls, because it was well known and in the centre of the community.
The cabin, which is more used to hosting a Samba band and a judo club, was first used during the assembly elections last year.
Elsewhere in Gwent people will also be able to cast their votes at a caravan at Coedkernew, Newport, a rugby pavilion at Llanbadoc, Bush Farm in Llansoy and the home of Newport rugby, Rodney Parade.
