MOUNTAIN society Cymdeithas Twmbarlwm is holding a Diamond Jubilee Beacon event on Twmbarlwm on the evening of June 4.
Standing at 1,375 ft (419m) at the end of the Mynydd Maen ridge, Twmbarlwm is the highest point south of the Brecon Beacons National Park and a well-known sight throughout the region.
As a landmark and vantage point, it is possible to see, and be seen from, the English counties of Gloucestershire, Avon and Somerset, in addition to our Welsh county boroughs of Caerphilly, Torfaen, Powys, Blaenau Gwent, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Newport and Cardiff.
Twmbarlwm is not new to beacons, having been used for this purpose since Roman times.
Watch out for the light on Twmbarlwm between 10.15pm and 10.30pm on Monday.
