SUMMER holidays are here and children can beat the boredom blues by visiting their local library and taking up a reading challenge or attending an exciting event.
Among the attractions in coming weeks are helping Will the dinosaur hunter, finding out about Evie’s funny stories, joining Lex on his creepy capers, learning about Rani’s myths and legends or joining the weekly Family Games sessions.
The reading challenge, which is suitable for all ages, entails picking up a collector card at your local library and reading six library books during the summer.
Councillor Debbie Wilcox, cabinet member for leisure, said: “Our libraries are the perfect place to take children during the summer holidays with a wide range of books for them to browse and lots of free activities to keep them amused – whatever the weather.”
