POLICE investigating the death of a man in Cwmbran have appealed for help to identify him.
The man's body was found in a canal near the Cwmbran Retail Park yesterday morning at around 9.25am by a member of staff from nearby PC World.
It is believed the man had not been in the water for longer than 24 hours.
A stretch of pathway along the canal was cordoned off and officers investigating the death said on Saturday night they were unable to identify the man.
The footpath was open again by this afternoon and the man's death is being treated by police as unexplained.
The man is described as in his 60s, approximately five feet nine inches tall and medium build.
He has grey hair, was wearing brown plastic rimmed prescription glasses, had false teeth and was clean shaven.
Police said he was wearing a dark zip up jacket, black trousers, dark Clarks-brand leather lace up shoes, a blue zip-up cardigan and a light blue, pink and white striped shirt.
If anyone can help or recognises the description of the man, call Gwent Police on 101.
