A CHAPEL that has never been used or completed can be turned into a home.

Coldbrook Chapel, on the Coldbrook Estate at Coldbrook, near Abergavenny, was built within a registered park overlooking a small lake.

It was commissioned by the Llanover Estate in the late 19th century as a private Catholic chapel, but for reasons unknown it was never completed, consecrated or used as a chapel.

Now in the care of the Trustees of the Coldbrook Estate, the chapel has remained unoccupied and unused, but the inside of the building is in good condition.

The trustees have decided to convert it sympathetically into a home and add a singlestorey extension. Cadw, the body that looks after historic buildings in Wales has listed the chapel for its special architectural interest.

Monmouthshire council has approved the plan and granted listed building consent
